Everything is now in primer, the door shuts, the engine bay and the roof will be the first to be painted with top coat so they will be prepped first. Once those bits are done, the tub will then be prepped and painted.

This van had some dent damage to the shaped edges on the lower half that had been pulled out previously in the USA. This part was not savable, so off it came a it got replaced with a nice new piece. Also a rear corner repair was made to the wax point where it had damage....The new battery tray has been fitted too

The Body has now been stripped and in etch primer to prevent any rust occuring whilst the body is being sorted.

All the doors are now bare metalled as are the track covers and the front grille. The main body is now being stripped down....The front has been stripped to reveal the extent of the damage to the nose, fairly minimal, nothing that can't be solved easily.

Day 1 of the project and it's off to a flying start. The van is all stripped out ready to start stripping the paint. Upon removing the interior we were greeted with the best possible sight, fresh green factory paint everywhere. Not a spot of rust anywhere on the inside, look at the cab floors....ever seen anything that clean before? Infact the only rust appears to be in the rear right battery tray and that hasn't even rotted out completely. It will be replaced anyway as it is quite weak.

Here at SKP we pride ourselves on the quality of our restorations and our attention to detail.
We are therefore pleased to be able to offer this 1978 5 berth Westfalia (green van in the pictures) completely restored and rebuilt to its original condition. If you want a no hastle van, this will be as near to new as possible with the pedegree of being an original German built van, not a new Brazillian re-make.

This particular van is the perfect base to start from, the interior is all there and the inside is still covered in plenty of shiny original green paint, not a spot of rust in sight, the same is true of the underside and chassis rails, no rust in sight.

The van has undergone a complete baremetal respray in it's original Tiaga Green paint, with all new top quality window rubbers fitted. It has had a brand new engine fitted (2.0L) with the fuel injection system re-instated, and the gearbox has been completely re-built. As a result the gearbox and the engine are covered by their supplier waranties.
The bumpers have been colourcoded to match the roof and the wheels. All 5 wheels are wrapped in new rubber and the poptop will be fitted with a brand new original spec canvas (not a baggy repro). All the running gear is new, i.e. new brakes, new shoes and pads, new track rods, new drag link, new wheel bearings all round, new drive shafts the list goes on....

The interior is due to be overhauled, the work on this will begin once materials arrive. The front seats are to be re-covered in Original Spec materials and the green carpets and curtains are to be replaced with top quality replicas. The interior consists of rear wardrobe/shelves, 3/4 width R&R bed, cool chest, several other cupboards and draws and a sink. A stand alone gas hob will be provided. The passenger front seat is also the swivel type making for a more socialble interior layout when parked up.

The van will also be fitted out with a 240v Electrical hook up and split charge system with leisure battery.

The van is now MOT's and will then be supplied fully waxoiled, 6 months tax and registered on an age related plate.

-The list goes on......

This van is as it was when bought new all those years ago.

All of the above and more from £19,000 inc. VAT
